The Lowcountry Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program is offering free tax preparation to persons generally earning $54,000 annually or less, differently-abled persons, persons 60 and older, and limited English-speaking persons, at various sites throughout Beaufort and Jasper Counties. Each taxpayer must bring a photo ID and Social Security card! For more information, contact Theresa Jackson at 843-321-9071. The US Census Bureau is recruiting for the 2020 Census. The starting rate in Beaufort and Jasper counties for census takers is $14.50 per hour. Burial Plots: The cost for burial plots in Talbird, Elliott and Jenkins Island cemeteries will increase to $500 for members of Mt. Calvary and $800 for non-members, beginning January 1, 2020.
