A Message from Pastor Simmons: State of the Church

State of the Church

From Rev. Dr. Deonia Simmons

Saturday, March 21, 2020

With the coronavirus crisis, we are in unprecedented times for our church and community.

In light of the coronavirus…

All live services at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church are cancelled until further notice.

Thanks to your giving, we are able to provide virtual services!!!!

Our Weekly Virtual Services will be:

Sunday @ 10 am

Wednesday @ 7:30 pm

We encourage you to watch our service on our website at www.mountcalvarymbc.com  or on Facebook: Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of HH.

I ask that you follow health care instructions from credible sources – the World Health Organization, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, the White House, the Centers for Disease Control and other health professionals. If you don’t have to go out, please don’t.

Construction Update: Mr. Belton, our Construction Project consultant, continues to work on the building project.

Four Requests for Stewardship: I have four requests that I would like you to do in the mean time until our live services resume:

1.Pray Each Day for all of our leaders.

1 Timothy 2:1-3 speaks to uplifting our leaders.

v1 – I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

v2 – For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

v3 – For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

I ask that you pray for our national, state and local leaders, as well as others, including:

  • President Donald Trump
  • S.C. Governor Henry McMaster
  • Mayor John McCann of Hilton Head Island
  • Mayor Lisa Sulka of Bluffton
  • Me & Lady Wanda Simmons
  • Our Church Family and Other Churches
  • Those individuals who have tested positive for Coronavirus
  • First Responders and Health Care Professionals
  • Bereaved families including Bro. Charles & Sis. Shirley Young.

2. Check on 5 members each day. Just give them a call to see how they are doing. If there is something I need to know or can assist with, please reach out to me.

3.Giving. Your Priority is caring for and looking out for family. Some persons have been blessed to not lose jobs. Some persons have lost jobs. If you are able to give a little more, please do. If you can’t, you can’t. You can give online. If giving online is not for you, you can mail a check to the church. We simply ask that you do what you can, and we realize some folks may not be able to due to their circumstances.

4. Contact and encourage others to join us virtually. Not every church is able to offer virtual services. But we want to offer others in our community seeking the word to join us.
